Renewable Energy Trends in Pakistan

For a country to have a flourishing solar energy industry, one might think of more complicated aspects such as a substantial supply of photovoltaic panels, an efficient transmission infrastructure, and a robust regulatory environment. However, many countries forget to consider the essential ingredient of all: sunlight and how much of it they get on their territory.

It is unquestionably true that Pakistan enjoys a lot of blessings in this regard. Reon Energy, the solar energy provider in Pakistan provides the best and the most sustainable solar energy solutions for the commercial and industrial sectors.

According to experts, solar energy must have a minimum of four hours of peak sunlight a day to be economically viable. When it comes to peak sunlight, the term does not mean any time between sunrise and sunset: it refers to bright daylight and directly shining onto solar panels. Will Pakistan benefit from peak sunlight? Most of Pakistan gets more than 300 days of sunshine every year.

Efficient Solar Modules

Optimum solar inverters that operate at more than 98% efficiency have been available for quite some time. However, the efficiency of solar modules has not improved very much. Today, the most efficient solar panels are up to 24% efficient, and the first solar panels were invented in the 1960s.

There has been a decline in project installations in the past year, and the research and innovation sector has also declined. However, a solar module manufacturer is expected to produce a high-efficiency PV module that can generate much electricity. A module with a capacity of more than 800W and an efficiency of 28% is expected to reach 2021's new targets.

Solar Road Projects are the New Trend

With these roads, asphalt is combined with PV materials to construct a road that carries car weights and generates electricity simultaneously. It is estimated that roads cover 0.5% of the earth's surface, and the new era of energy technology is set to begin around 2021 if the projects are successful. The Chinese government has already started building their first solar highway, which is part of the solar road project. Moreover, the United States has constructed a 70 km solar road on a trial basis, which is undergoing evaluation, and authorities are considering replicating it. There is no doubt that solar roads will soon become the norm.

Solar installations and projects increased

Among the most promising developments for the solar market 2020 was that the flu pandemic had no impact on attitudes toward solar energy. In recent years, solar power has gained more popularity because of its obvious monetary and environmental benefits.

Globally, the International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts a 43% increase in solar installations between 2010 and 2015. According to the agency, more than 920 GW of solar energy capacity is expected to grow in the coming years. Consequently, the government and the population are eager to take advantage of the free energy source available to us.
